Who co-created "Parks and Recreation" together with Greg Daniels?
Answer
Michael Schur
Answer
Michael Schur
Michael Schur co-created "Parks and Recreation" with Greg Daniels. The two developed the series after NBC asked Daniels to consider a spin-off connected to "The Office," where Daniels was showrunner and Schur was a writer and producer.
Daniels and Schur eventually decided that the new project worked better as a standalone comedy about local government than as a direct spin-off. After Amy Poehler joined the project, they shaped the series around Leslie Knope, an optimistic public servant in the fictional Indiana town of Pawnee. The show premiered in 2009 and ran for seven seasons.
Schur also served as the show's principal showrunner and executive producer. He had previously written for "Saturday Night Live" and played Mose Schrute on "The Office." Daniels and Schur's collaboration is why the series is sometimes loosely described as an "Office" spin-off, but the programs have separate characters and stories.
