Who became Dolphins head coach after coordinating Green Bay's defense?

Jeff Hafley became the Miami Dolphins’ head coach after serving as the Green Bay Packers’ defensive coordinator.

Hafley joined Green Bay ahead of the 2024 season and coordinated the Packers’ defense through 2025. His move to Miami continued a rapid rise through the professional coaching ranks, following earlier defensive-back coaching work with the 49ers, Browns and Buccaneers.

Before returning to the NFL, Hafley was Ohio State’s co-defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach in 2019. He then became Boston College’s head coach, where he led the Eagles for four seasons before taking the Packers job.

Joe Barry is an easy mix-up because he was Green Bay’s defensive coordinator immediately before Hafley. Vic Fangio and Mike McDaniel are also associated with recent Dolphins defenses and leadership, but neither fits the question’s Green Bay-coordinator clue. Hafley was named Miami’s 12th head coach in January 2026.
