Which Yo-kai Watch 4 version marked the series' first release on PlayStation 4?

Yo-kai Watch 4++ marked the Yo-kai Watch series’ first release on PlayStation 4. It was an enhanced version of Yo-kai Watch 4, released in Japan on December 5, 2019, for both PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.

The original Yo-kai Watch 4 had launched earlier in Japan only for Switch. The 4++ edition expanded that release with additional content, including a new map, new enemies, extra quests, and the multiplayer mode “Purapura Blasters.” Owners of the original game could also obtain much of the added content through paid downloadable content.

The wording matters: Yo-kai Watch 4 itself was not the first PlayStation release. The distinction belongs to 4++, which brought the franchise to Sony’s console for the first time. The title also represents the series’ move beyond Nintendo handhelds and consoles after earlier mainline games had centered on the Nintendo 3DS.
