WINNER is the YG Entertainment boy group whose youngest member, Kang Seung-yoon, became its leader. Known professionally as Yoon, he was born in 1994, while the group's other original members were older, making him both the maknae and the leader.
WINNER was formed through YG Entertainment's 2013 reality competition program WIN: Who Is Next. The winning team debuted in 2014, with Kang Seung-yoon serving as its leader and one of its main vocalists and songwriters. His leadership was unusual because K-pop groups commonly appoint an older, more senior member to guide the team.
The fact can become confusing because WINNER's lineup and leadership history changed over time. Nam Tae-hyun left the group in 2016, after which Yoon was clearly the youngest member of the remaining lineup. Later reports also discussed temporary or subsequent leadership changes during members' absences, but WINNER remains the canonical answer to this trivia question.
