Beyoncé’s first solo album was released in 2003. Titled Dangerously in Love, it marked her transition from Destiny’s Child member to a successful solo recording artist.
The album was released on June 24, 2003, during a hiatus in Destiny’s Child’s group activity. Its lead single, “Crazy in Love,” featured Jay-Z and became one of Beyoncé’s signature songs. Other prominent tracks included “Baby Boy,” featuring Sean Paul, and “Me, Myself and I.”
Dangerously in Love was both a commercial and critical breakthrough. It topped the Billboard 200 and eventually earned Beyoncé five Grammy Awards at the 2004 ceremony, including Best Contemporary R&B Album and Best R&B Song for “Crazy in Love.”
A common confusion is to identify 2005, when Destiny’s Child released their final studio album and later disbanded. Beyoncé’s solo career had already begun two years earlier, with the 2003 release of Dangerously in Love.
