Which wizarding newspaper publishes the Harry Potter books’ main news reports?

The Daily Prophet publishes the main news reports in the Harry Potter books’ wizarding world.

The Daily Prophet is the principal newspaper read by witches and wizards in Britain. It reports on events involving the Ministry of Magic, Hogwarts, Harry Potter, and Lord Voldemort. Its coverage becomes especially important when the Ministry tries to deny Voldemort’s return and influence public opinion.

The newspaper is not presented as completely independent. In Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, its reporting follows the Ministry’s position and attacks Harry and Dumbledore. Later, under Voldemort’s control, the wizarding press is used to spread propaganda and suppress the truth.

The Quibbler is a separate publication edited by Xenophilius Lovegood. It initially has a reputation for unusual stories, but it publishes Harry’s account of Voldemort’s return when mainstream reporting refuses to do so. Witch Weekly is another magazine mentioned in the series, particularly in connection with celebrity and advice features.
