Which wide receiver did New Orleans draft eighth overall in 2026?

The story behind the answer

The New Orleans Saints drafted Arizona State wide receiver Jordyn Tyson eighth overall in the 2026 NFL draft.

Tyson's path to the top eight included stops at Colorado and Arizona State. He broke out for Arizona State in 2024, catching 75 passes for 1,101 yards and 10 touchdowns. A 2025 season shortened to nine appearances still produced 61 receptions, 711 yards and eight touchdowns, enough to establish him as one of the draft's premier receiving prospects.

The Saints' selection came immediately after Washington chose Ohio State linebacker Sonny Styles at No. 7. Tyson was the first wide receiver selected in the 2026 draft, while his Arizona State background can cause confusion with other receivers in the first round, including USC's Makai Lemon and Texas A&M's KC Concepcion.

Tyson's draft profile combined size, production and versatility. He entered the NFL after recording 158 receptions, 2,282 yards and 22 touchdowns in college. New Orleans therefore used its eighth pick on a proven playmaker rather than one of the defensive or offensive-line prospects selected nearby.
