Which Whitney Houston song became her longest-running Billboard Hot 100 No. 1, spending 14 weeks at the top in 1992–93?

Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You” became her longest-running Billboard Hot 100 No. 1, spending 14 weeks at the top in 1992–93.

Houston recorded the song for The Bodyguard soundtrack, where she performed a dramatic pop-soul interpretation of Dolly Parton’s 1973 country original. The single entered the Hot 100 in November 1992 and reached No. 1 soon afterward.

Its chart performance was powered by the film, the soundtrack’s enormous sales, and Houston’s vocal performance. The recording became one of the defining soundtrack singles of the 1990s and won major awards, including the Grammy for Record of the Year.

A common mix-up is to call it a Houston original. Parton wrote and first recorded the song; Houston’s version transformed it into a global pop standard.
