Which Wes Anderson film won the 2024 Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film?

The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar won the 2024 Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film.

Written and directed by Wes Anderson, the 2023 short adapts Roald Dahl’s story about a wealthy man who learns of a performer capable of seeing without using his eyes. Benedict Cumberbatch stars as Henry Sugar, with Ralph Fiennes, Dev Patel, Ben Kingsley, and Richard Ayoade also appearing.

The film won at the 96th Academy Awards, held on March 10, 2024. It was Anderson’s first competitive Oscar win after multiple nominations for screenwriting, directing, production design, costume design, and animated or live-action short work.

The title is sometimes confused with Anderson’s feature-length Roald Dahl adaptation Fantastic Mr. Fox. They are separate projects: Fantastic Mr. Fox is an animated feature from 2009, while The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar is a live-action short released in 2023.
