Which vocalist performed on Black Sabbath's 1980 album 'Heaven and Hell'?

The story behind the answer

Ronnie James Dio performed the vocals on Black Sabbath’s 1980 album Heaven and Hell. He joined the band after Ozzy Osbourne’s departure and brought a distinctly powerful, dramatic vocal style to the record.

Dio had previously sung with Rainbow, and his arrival helped revive Black Sabbath’s momentum. Alongside guitarist Tony Iommi, bassist Geezer Butler, and drummer Bill Ward, he recorded an album that became a landmark in the band’s catalogue.

The album is sometimes confused with later Black Sabbath records because the group had many vocalists. Ian Gillan sang on Born Again, released in 1983, while Tony Martin fronted several albums later in the decade. Ozzy Osbourne was the original singer, but he did not perform on Heaven and Hell.
