Moss is the virtual-reality game that follows Quill, a mouse who communicates with the player through gestures.
Polyarc developed Moss as a third-person adventure game for VR. Players guide Quill through miniature environments while also interacting directly with the world around her. This makes the player feel like a companion or larger presence within the game rather than simply an invisible camera.
The game was first released for PlayStation VR in 2018 and later appeared on other VR platforms. Its combination of traditional adventure-game movement and direct environmental interaction helped distinguish it from first-person VR games.
Quill is sometimes described as speaking to the player, but her communication is primarily expressed through gestures and visual cues. Moss later received a sequel, Moss: Book II, which continued Quill’s story.
