Zündapp is a German scientist who works with the criminal mastermind behind the film’s plot. He helps develop and deploy the electromagnetic weapon used to make Allinol fuel appear dangerous, creating chaos during the World Grand Prix.

The character is named after Zündapp, a German motorcycle and vehicle manufacturer founded in 1917. His design resembles a compact German car and fits the film’s international spy-thriller style. He is voiced by Thomas Kretschmann in the English version.

Professor Zündapp is often confused with Miles Axlerod, the former oil magnate whose public identity hides the larger conspiracy. Finn McMissile is also sometimes mistaken for a villain because he is involved in espionage, but he is an ally of Mater and Lightning McQueen.
