Which U.S. TV network aired the English Yo-kai Watch anime?

The story behind the answer

The English-language Yo-kai Watch anime aired in the United States on Disney XD.

Dentsu Entertainment USA produced the English dub, which introduced the series to North American television after its Japanese debut. The first English-dubbed season premiered on Disney XD on October 5, 2015, ahead of the localized video game’s North American release. The broadcast helped connect the anime, games, toys, and character merchandise as parts of one larger franchise.

The English version localized several names and cultural references. Keita Amano became Nate Adams, Fumika Kodama became Katie Forester, and the setting Sakura New Town became Springdale. These changes were intended to make the show more accessible to English-speaking children while preserving its basic stories about people whose behavior is influenced by invisible Yo-kai.

Disney XD was the principal U.S. network associated with the English anime, although Disney Channel also showed a preview episode. The series later left Disney XD’s regular lineup in 2019, briefly returned in a weekend slot in 2020, and last aired there on August 16, 2020. Toon Disney, Cartoon Network, and Nicktoons were not the answer to this U.S. broadcast question.
