NBC originally broadcast Frasier from 1993 to 2004.
The sitcom premiered on September 16, 1993, as a spin-off of Cheers and followed psychiatrist Frasier Crane after he returned to Seattle. At radio station KACL, Frasier hosted a call-in advice program while adjusting to life with his father Martin, brother Niles, housekeeper Daphne, and producer Roz Doyle.
NBC carried the series through all 11 seasons, ending its original run on May 13, 2004. The network relationship was especially significant because Frasier grew out of another major NBC sitcom, Cheers, where Kelsey Grammer had first played the character. Frasier became one of NBC’s signature Thursday-night comedies during the network’s “Must See TV” era.
Viewers sometimes confuse the broadcaster with Paramount Television, which produced and distributed the program, or with the streaming services that later carried it in syndication. Those companies were involved in production or distribution, but NBC was the original U.S. network.
