The United States Army celebrated its 250th anniversary with a parade in June 2025 during the lead-up to America250.
The Army traces its establishment to June 14, 1775, when the Continental Congress created the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War. That date is now observed as the Army’s birthday and is also known as Flag Day.
The 2025 parade preceded the main July 4, 2026 semiquincentennial anniversary. It was therefore a related military milestone rather than the anniversary of the Declaration of Independence itself.
The Army’s 250th anniversary and the nation’s 250th anniversary are easy to merge because both trace their origins to the Revolutionary era. They commemorate different founding dates: the Army dates to 1775, while the national anniversary centers on independence declared in 1776.
