Which U.S. medal did Georgia O'Keeffe receive in 1985 for artistic achievement?

Georgia O'Keeffe received the National Medal of Arts in 1985.

The National Medal of Arts is presented by the president of the United States to honor outstanding contributions to the arts. O'Keeffe received the medal late in her career, after her flower paintings, abstractions, New York subjects, and New Mexico landscapes had made her one of the best-known American artists.

This award was not her first major federal honor. President Gerald Ford had presented her with the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1977. The two awards recognize different moments in her public honors, with the National Medal of Arts specifically emphasizing artistic achievement.
