Answer
School of the Art Institute of Chicago
Answer
School of the Art Institute of Chicago
Georgia O'Keeffe studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago before attending the Art Students League in New York.
She enrolled at the Chicago school in 1905, receiving academic training in drawing and painting. In 1907 she moved to New York and studied at the Art Students League, where William Merritt Chase taught her.
These schools gave O'Keeffe a conventional foundation, but she later rejected strict imitation of European models. Her experiments with abstraction in the 1910s developed partly through teaching and independent study, eventually leading to the distinctive visual language associated with her name.
