Answer
University of Oxford
Answer
University of Oxford
The University of Oxford employed C.S. Lewis as a fellow and tutor for most of his academic career.
Lewis became a fellow and tutor at Magdalen College, Oxford, in 1925. He remained there for nearly three decades, teaching English literature and developing a reputation as a scholar, lecturer, and remarkably wide-ranging conversationalist.
In 1954, Lewis moved to Cambridge University to become the first holder of the newly created Chair of Medieval and Renaissance English. That later appointment can cause confusion, but Oxford was the institution most closely associated with his long academic career. His Oxford friendships included members of the literary group known as the Inklings.
