Which university did Reddit co-founders Steve Huffman and Alexis Ohanian attend?

Reddit co-founders Steve Huffman and Alexis Ohanian attended the University of Virginia. They were college roommates there before developing the idea that became Reddit in 2005.

During spring break, Huffman and Ohanian traveled to Boston to attend a lecture by entrepreneur Paul Graham. Their initial startup idea, a text-message food-ordering service called My Mobile Menu, did not work out. Graham encouraged them to propose another idea, leading to the concept of a user-powered “front page of the Internet.”

The pair joined Y Combinator’s first class and built the early Reddit site with its support. Huffman wrote the original software, while Ohanian handled business and community-building work. They launched Reddit in June 2005, initially as the company’s only visible users and content contributors.

Aaron Swartz later joined the project and is often included in accounts of Reddit’s founding or early development. That history does not change the university answer: Huffman and Ohanian were University of Virginia students and roommates. The school is in Charlottesville, Virginia.
