How many logged clicks did Reddit's The Button finish with in 2015?

The story behind the answer

Reddit’s The Button finished with 1,008,316 logged clicks in 2015.

The Button was a Reddit experiment launched on April 1, 2015. It displayed a 60-second countdown that reset whenever an eligible account pressed the button. Each account could press only once, turning the event into a test of collective timing, curiosity, and self-control.

The experiment ended on June 5, 2015, when the timer reached zero without another press. The final count is sometimes described as accounts or participants rather than clicks because one account was generally limited to one press. That distinction explains why the total is a little over one million, not a record of repeated clicks by the same users.

The project was created by Josh Wardle, who later became famous for creating Wordle. The colored flair system also turned users’ reaction times into status markers, creating competing communities around early, late, and non-pressers.
