Which university did 2026 Hall of Fame inductee Doc Rivers attend?
Answer
Marquette University
Answer
Marquette University
2026 Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame inductee Doc Rivers attended Marquette University. He played college basketball for the Golden Eagles before beginning his NBA playing and coaching career.
At Marquette, Rivers established himself as a talented guard and represented the United States at the 1982 FIBA World Championship. The tournament experience preceded his selection by the Atlanta Hawks in the 1983 NBA draft.
Rivers later played for several NBA teams and became a head coach, winning the 2008 NBA championship with the Boston Celtics. His career therefore spans college basketball, international competition, NBA playing and NBA coaching.
Marquette is sometimes overlooked because Rivers became more widely known as an NBA coach than as a college player. It is also distinct from the universities associated with other 2026 inductees, including Oregon for Mark Few and Tennessee for Chamique Holdsclaw.
