Which university did 2026 Hall of Fame inductee Chamique Holdsclaw represent from 1995 to 1999?

The story behind the answer

Chamique Holdsclaw represented the University of Tennessee from 1995 to 1999.

Playing for the Lady Vols under coach Pat Summitt, Holdsclaw became one of the defining players of 1990s women’s college basketball. She helped Tennessee win three consecutive NCAA championships in 1996, 1997, and 1998.

Holdsclaw finished her college career with 3,025 points and 1,295 rebounds. Those totals made her Tennessee’s all-time leading scorer and rebounder in the combined men’s and women’s program histories at the time described in her biography.

She also won national player-of-the-year honors and became the first overall pick in the 1999 WNBA draft. Tennessee is sometimes confused with Connecticut because both programs were dominant in that era, but Holdsclaw’s college career was entirely with the Lady Vols.
