Which two directors co-directed Disney’s 2013 animated film Frozen?
Answer
Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee
Answer
Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee
Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee co-directed Disney’s 2013 animated film Frozen.
Buck was an experienced Disney animator and director who had previously co-directed Tarzan. Lee joined the project as a writer and later became a major creative force during its development. Her work on the screenplay helped reshape the story around the relationship between Anna and Elsa, rather than a conventional romantic plot.
Frozen marked Lee’s feature-directing debut. She later became the chief creative officer of Walt Disney Animation Studios, succeeding John Lasseter in 2018. Buck and Lee also co-directed Frozen II, continuing the sisters’ story while expanding the mythology of Arendelle and the Enchanted Forest.
The directing pair is sometimes confused with the film’s songwriters, Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, or with producer Peter Del Vecho. Directors guide the overall storytelling and visual production; the songwriters created the musical numbers, and the producer coordinated the film’s production.
