Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 uses skitching to let skaters hang off moving vehicles.
Skitching is a gameplay mechanic in which the skateboarder grabs onto the back of a moving car or truck and is pulled along. It adds speed and creates opportunities for longer runs, bigger jumps, and unusual lines through a level. The mechanic reflects a real skateboarding term: skitching means holding onto a moving vehicle while riding behind it.
The feature belongs specifically to Pro Skater 4's expanded trick and movement system. It is easy to confuse with other series mechanics, such as reverting from a ramp, wallplanting off a vertical surface, or flatlanding a trick. Those actions affect how a skater lands or redirects momentum; skitching is the vehicle-based move.
Pro Skater 4 also changed the series structure by using larger levels and goal-based exploration rather than the earlier two-minute format. Skitching fit that broader design because vehicles could carry players across open spaces and help them reach otherwise difficult areas.
