Which Tolkien character is known as Strider before revealing his royal identity?

The story behind the answer

Aragorn is the Tolkien character known as Strider before revealing his royal identity.

When the Hobbits meet him at the Prancing Pony in Bree, Aragorn presents himself as a weathered Ranger called Strider. He helps guide Frodo, Sam, Merry, and Pippin toward Rivendell after the Black Riders begin hunting them. His concealed identity becomes important because he is the heir of Isildur and has a claim to the throne of Gondor.

Aragorn’s full lineage is connected to the Dúnedain of the North. He is the son of Arathorn II and Gilraen, and he was raised in Rivendell under the protection of Elrond. Aragorn later becomes King Elessar after Sauron’s defeat and marries Arwen.

Strider is a nickname, not a separate character. Boromir and Faramir are men of Gondor, while Éomer is a warrior of Rohan; none has Aragorn’s royal identity or story arc.
