Which Tolkien character is known as Elessar after becoming king?

The story behind the answer

Aragorn is the Tolkien character known as Elessar after becoming king.

In The Lord of the Rings, Aragorn is introduced as the ranger Strider, a guarded traveler encountered by the hobbits at Bree. His identity is gradually revealed: he is the heir of Isildur and has a claim to the thrones of Arnor and Gondor.

After the defeat of Sauron, Aragorn becomes King Elessar of the Reunited Kingdom. The name Elessar means “Elfstone,” linking him with the green jewel associated with healing, kingship, and his relationship with Arwen.

Aragorn’s royal name should not be confused with his other titles and aliases, including Strider, Estel, and Thorongil. Faramir and Boromir are also Gondorian figures, but neither becomes King Elessar. Aragorn’s coronation completes the political restoration at the end of the main narrative.
