Which Tolkien character is described as a hobbit of the Shire and bears the One Ring to Mordor?

The story behind the answer

Frodo Baggins is the hobbit of the Shire who bears the One Ring to Mordor.

Frodo inherits the ring from his uncle Bilbo Baggins, who originally found it in the Goblin tunnels beneath the Misty Mountains. After learning the ring’s true identity, Gandalf advises Frodo to leave the Shire. Frodo eventually joins the Fellowship of the Ring and accepts the responsibility of taking the ring toward Mount Doom.

Frodo does not complete the journey alone. Samwise Gamgee remains his closest companion, while Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli, Boromir, Gandalf, and the other members of the Fellowship help protect the mission. At Mount Doom, Frodo claims the ring rather than willingly destroying it, but Gollum’s intervention causes the ring to fall into the fire.
