Which Tolkien character is called the Evenstar in The Lord of the Rings?

The story behind the answer

Arwen is the Tolkien character called the Evenstar in The Lord of the Rings.

Arwen Undómiel is the daughter of Elrond and Celebrían and the granddaughter of Galadriel. Her title, Undómiel, means “Evenstar,” a poetic name connected with her beauty and her place among the Elves of Middle-earth.

Arwen loves Aragorn, the heir of Isildur, and eventually chooses a mortal life with him. Their relationship parallels the earlier tale of Beren and Lúthien, another love story involving an Elf and a Man. Arwen’s choice is linked to the fate of the Half-elven, whose members must decide whether to belong to the Elves or Men.

Arwen is sometimes confused with Éowyn because both characters are important women in the story and both are connected with Aragorn’s narrative. Éowyn is a human noblewoman of Rohan, while Arwen is Elrond’s Elven daughter and the Evenstar.
