Which Tolkien character inherits the One Ring from Bilbo Baggins?
Answer
Frodo Baggins
Answer
Frodo Baggins
Frodo Baggins inherits the One Ring from Bilbo Baggins in J.R.R. Tolkien’s legendarium.
Bilbo gives the Ring to Frodo during the birthday and farewell gathering described near the beginning of The Fellowship of the Ring. Frodo is Bilbo’s younger cousin and adopted heir, living with him at Bag End in Hobbiton. Gandalf later confirms that Bilbo’s ring is the One Ring forged by Sauron.
Frodo then accepts the task of carrying the Ring away from the Shire and ultimately toward Mount Doom. He is accompanied by members of the Fellowship and, later, by Samwise Gamgee. The journey tests Frodo’s courage and endurance because the Ring exerts an increasing influence on its bearer.
Sam, Merry, and Pippin are sometimes selected by mistake because they are central companions. However, Frodo is the character who receives the Ring from Bilbo and carries it through most of the main quest.
