Which Texas fast-food chain was founded in San Antonio in 1952 by George W. Church Sr.?
Answer
Church's Chicken
Answer
Church's Chicken
Church's Chicken was founded in San Antonio in 1952 by George W. Church Sr.
The original restaurant opened across the street from the Alamo and initially sold fried chicken and other food to visitors and downtown workers. The business was known as Church's Fried Chicken before later adopting the Church's Chicken name in the United States.
The chain expanded beyond Texas during the 1960s and eventually became an international brand. In some countries, including Canada, it has used the name Texas Chicken. That international name can cause confusion because the company is American, not Canadian or Australian.
Church's is one of several major American fried-chicken chains founded in the postwar period. Its San Antonio origin distinguishes it from Bojangles, which began in Charlotte, North Carolina, and Wingstop, which started in the Dallas area.
