Which Tesla charging system introduced a 250-kilowatt maximum charging rate?

The story behind the answer

Tesla’s Supercharger V3 introduced a maximum charging rate of 250 kilowatts.

Tesla announced V3 Supercharging in 2019. The system uses a new 1-megawatt power cabinet and individual charging cables designed to deliver higher power without sharing the available output between two cars in the same way as earlier V2 sites. Tesla stated that a compatible vehicle could add substantial range during a short stop.

The 250-kilowatt figure is a peak rate, not a constant charging speed. Actual power depends on battery temperature, state of charge, vehicle hardware, and station conditions. Supercharger V3 is also distinct from Tesla’s newer hardware revisions and from destination chargers, which are slower AC chargers typically installed at hotels, restaurants, and workplaces.
