Which team won the IPL 2024 title?

The Kolkata Knight Riders won the IPL 2024 title. They defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by eight wickets in the final on 26 May 2024 at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Kolkata’s victory was built on an outstanding campaign: they finished first in the league table and then beat Sunrisers in Qualifier 1 to reach the final. The title was their third, following their earlier championships in 2012 and 2014. It also marked the franchise’s first IPL final appearance since 2021.

The final itself was remarkably one-sided. Sunrisers were dismissed for just 113 in 18.3 overs, with Kolkata’s bowlers controlling the innings throughout. Mitchell Starc and Harshit Rana each took two wickets, while Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy also struck.

Kolkata chased the small target in only 10.3 overs, reaching 114 for two. Venkatesh Iyer scored an unbeaten 52 from 26 balls, while Rahmanullah Gurbaz made 39. Mitchell Starc was named Player of the Match, and Sunil Narine won the season’s Most Valuable Player award.
