OG won The International 2018, Dota 2’s eighth world championship.
The tournament took place at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, Canada, from August 20 to 25, 2018. OG entered the event through the open-qualifier route after a difficult season, making its eventual championship especially notable. In the grand final, OG defeated PSG.LGD 3–2 in a five-game series.
The victory made OG the first team to win The International twice. Its earlier championship came in 2012, when the organization competed under a different name. The 2018 lineup included Johan “N0tail” Sundstein, Sébastien “Ceb” Debs, Anathan “ana” Pham, Topias “Topson” Taavitsainen, and Jesse “JerAx” Vainikka.
The International’s prize pool was largely funded through sales of the in-game Compendium and related items. A common mix-up is confusing OG’s 2018 title with its later 2019 victory; OG became the first two-time champion in 2018 and the first team to win consecutive editions in 2019.
