Which team won the inaugural Dota 2 International tournament in 2011?
Answer
Natus Vincere
Answer
Natus Vincere
Natus Vincere won the inaugural Dota 2 International tournament in 2011.
The first International was held at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany, from 17 to 21 August 2011. Natus Vincere, commonly shortened to Na’Vi, defeated EHOME 3–1 in the grand final and earned the event’s top prize.
The Ukrainian organization’s lineup featured Dendi, XBOCT, LightofHeaven, Puppey and ArtStyle. The tournament was created by Valve to showcase Dota 2 before its full public release, making its competitive debut especially significant in the game’s history.
Later Internationals became famous for record-setting crowdfunded prize pools and enormous global audiences. That growth can make the first event seem similar to modern editions, but the 2011 tournament had a much smaller field and was staged as a Gamescom exhibition-style competition.
