Which team won the first League of Legends World Championship in 2011?

The story behind the answer

Fnatic won the first League of Legends World Championship in 2011.

The tournament took place at DreamHack Summer in Jönköping, Sweden, from 18 to 20 June 2011. Fnatic defeated Against All authority 2–1 in the final, becoming the first team to win Riot Games’ global championship event.

The roster included xPeke, Cyanide, Shushei, LaMiaZ and Mellisan. Fnatic’s victory helped establish the World Championship as League of Legends’ premier competitive tournament. The event was much smaller than later Worlds editions, which developed into major arena productions with international group stages and millions of viewers.

A common mix-up is confusing the first World Championship with later famous finals. SK Telecom T1 won in 2013, while Invictus Gaming became the first Chinese team to win in 2018.
