Which team won the 2013 Rugby League World Cup final?
Answer
Australia
Answer
Australia
Australia won the 2013 Rugby League World Cup final. The Kangaroos defeated New Zealand 34–2 at Old Trafford in Manchester on 30 November 2013, securing their tenth men’s World Cup title.
Australia controlled the final from the opening minutes. Fullback Billy Slater scored the first try, and Australia built a commanding lead before halftime. New Zealand, the defending champions, were unable to repeat their 2008 victory.
The tournament was hosted by England, Wales, France and Ireland, and the final attracted a crowd of 74,468. Australia’s result restored them to the top of the international game after New Zealand had won the previous tournament. The 2013 event was the first Rugby League World Cup held since the 2008 competition.
The result is sometimes confused with the 2017 final, when Australia again defeated England. New Zealand, rather than England, was Australia’s opponent in 2013.
