Which team will play its first season at the new Highmark Stadium in 2026?

The Buffalo Bills will play their first season at the new Highmark Stadium in 2026. The stadium, located in Orchard Park, New York, replaces the Bills’ previous venue on the same general site and begins a new chapter for the franchise.

Construction began with a groundbreaking ceremony in June 2023. The new stadium was designed as a modern football venue with improved concourses, updated fan amenities and weather-conscious features suited to western New York. It is intended to preserve the outdoor character associated with Bills football while offering a more contemporary game-day experience.

The Bills’ first regular-season game in the new building is scheduled against the Detroit Lions on September 17, 2026. That opening game helps distinguish the new facility from the older stadium, which also carried the Highmark name through a naming-rights agreement.

The Tennessee Titans and Cleveland Browns are also associated with stadium transitions, but neither team is the club beginning play at Buffalo’s new Highmark Stadium.
