Arsenal scored first in the 2026–27 Premier League season by winning the opening match 3–0.
The defending champions began the campaign against newly promoted Coventry City on Friday 21 August 2026. Arsenal played at home and secured a three-goal victory in the season’s first fixture.
Because this was the opening match, Arsenal were the first club to earn points and the first club to score in the new Premier League season. Their clean sheet also made them the first team to prevent an opponent from scoring.
Brighton and Brentford later recorded 4–0 and 3–0 victories respectively, while Chelsea won 3–2 on Monday. Those results came after Arsenal’s match and therefore did not change which club opened the scoring for the season.
