Which team hosted the San Francisco 49ers in Week 2 of the 2026 NFL preseason?
Answer
Los Angeles Chargers
The Los Angeles Chargers hosted the San Francisco 49ers in Week 2 of the 2026 NFL preseason.
The game was played at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, the shared home of the Chargers and the Los Angeles Rams. It was scheduled for Thursday, August 20, during the second full week of exhibition games.
San Francisco won 41–17. The result was notable for its wide margin, but preseason outcomes are less important than the player evaluation and lineup decisions made during the game.
The matchup can be confusing because Los Angeles has two NFL teams that share SoFi Stadium. In this game, the host was the Chargers, not the Rams. The 49ers also play in California, but their home stadium is Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara.
