No. 2 pick Darryn Peterson played for the Utah Jazz in the 2026 Salt Lake City Summer League.
The Jazz selected Peterson second overall in the 2026 NBA draft after the Washington Wizards chose AJ Dybantsa first. That made Peterson one of the headline attractions when Utah hosted its summer competition in Salt Lake City. He faced other young players, including fellow high draft selections, in games designed to give prospects early professional experience.
The Salt Lake City event is commonly confused with the Las Vegas Summer League because both are NBA-run summer showcases. They are separate competitions, however, and Peterson later appeared for Utah in Las Vegas as well. His team affiliation remained the Jazz because Utah held his draft rights.
Summer League rosters can include rookies, second-year players, unsigned prospects and players with G League experience. Therefore, participation does not necessarily mean a player has secured a permanent regular-season role, but Peterson’s appearance clearly represented Utah’s investment in its second overall pick.
