Manchester United visited Hull City in the first Saturday lunchtime match of the 2026–27 Premier League.
The fixture was scheduled for Saturday, 22 August 2026, at Hull City’s home ground. It followed Arsenal’s Friday-night meeting with Coventry City and was selected as the season’s first Saturday lunchtime game.
Hull City had gained promotion to the Premier League through the Championship play-offs. Manchester United therefore began the campaign away against a newly promoted opponent rather than at Old Trafford.
Hull produced a memorable return to the top flight by winning 2–0. The result gave the promoted club three points and left Manchester United without a goal in their opening match.
