Manchester United faced Hull City away from home on the 2026–27 Premier League opening weekend.
The match was played at Hull’s home ground on Saturday, 22 August 2026. It was Manchester United’s first league fixture of the new campaign and Hull City’s return to Premier League football after winning promotion from the Championship.
Hull produced a strong start by defeating Manchester United 2–0. The result was one of the opening weekend’s notable surprises, particularly because United were visiting a newly promoted side and were expected to challenge near the upper part of the table.
The fixture was also selected as the season’s first Saturday lunchtime match, with a 12:30 British time kick-off. Hull’s victory gave the club three points and a two-goal advantage immediately upon returning to the top flight.
