Which team did Elena Delle Donne lead to its first WNBA championship in 2019?
Answer
Washington Mystics
Answer
Washington Mystics
Elena Delle Donne led the Washington Mystics to their first WNBA championship in 2019.
Delle Donne joined Washington after beginning her WNBA career with the Chicago Sky. In 2019, she helped the Mystics win the league title, giving the franchise its first WNBA championship. She was also named WNBA Most Valuable Player that season.
Her 2026 Hall of Fame selection followed a career that included two WNBA MVP awards, in 2015 and 2019, and seven All-Star selections. She was selected second overall in the 2013 WNBA draft after starring at the University of Delaware.
Delle Donne also won an Olympic gold medal with the United States at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games. The 2019 championship should not be confused with the later title won by the Chicago Sky in 2021, another former team of hers.
