“Willow” followed “Cardigan” and “august” in Taylor Swift’s 2021 Grammy medley.
Swift performed the sequence at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards on March 14, 2021. “Cardigan” and “august” came from Folklore, while “Willow” came from Evermore, which Swift released in December 2020 as a companion album.
The performance began with Swift singing “Cardigan” on top of a cottage. She then performed “august” inside the structure with a guitar, before the group moved outside for “Willow.” Jack Antonoff and Aaron Dessner accompanied her, linking the performance to the production teams behind the two albums.
Although “Willow” is not part of the fictional love triangle told by “Cardigan,” “august,” and “Betty,” it shares the same broader period and atmospheric presentation. That distinction helps prevent confusion between the medley’s set list and Folklore’s narrative trio.
