Which Taoist god is associated with wealth?

The story behind the answer

The Taoist god associated with wealth is Caishen.

Caishen, whose name means “God of Wealth,” is a prominent deity in Chinese folk religion and Taoism. The name can refer to a composite tradition rather than one single universally agreed historical person. Several figures have been identified with Caishen, including Zhao Gongming, Bi Gan, and Fan Li.

Zhao Gongming is the most widely venerated form and is often shown wearing armor, carrying an iron weapon, riding a black tiger, or holding a gold ingot. He is treated as the Military God of Wealth. By contrast, Bi Gan and Fan Li are commonly portrayed as Civil Wealth Gods associated with honest administration, commerce, and prosperity.

Caishen is especially important during Lunar New Year celebrations. Families and businesses invoke him when welcoming prosperity, and regional customs may observe the welcoming of the deity on the second or fifth day of the first lunar month. Caishen should not be confused with Tudigong, the local Earth God, although both can be honored for prosperity and good fortune.
