Which superhero is also known as the "Man of Steel"?

The story behind the answer

The superhero also known as the “Man of Steel” is Superman. The nickname refers to Superman’s extraordinary strength, durability, and near-invulnerability, which come from his Kryptonian biology under Earth’s yellow sun. He was created by writer Jerry Siegel and artist Joe Shuster and first appeared in Action Comics #1 in 1938.

Superman’s most familiar origin story begins on the doomed planet Krypton. His parents, Jor-El and Lara, send him to Earth as an infant in a spacecraft. Raised as Clark Kent in Smallville, Kansas, he eventually adopts the Superman identity and uses his powers to protect humanity.

“Man of Steel” is one of Superman’s standard epithets, alongside “The Last Son of Krypton” and “the Metropolis Marvel.” It has also been used in titles such as the 1986 comic miniseries The Man of Steel and the 2013 film Man of Steel. A common mix-up is confusing Superman with Steel, a separate armored superhero whose identity is John Henry Irons.
