Which studio produced Pixar’s Cars movies?

Pixar Animation Studios produced Pixar’s Cars movies.

Pixar created the Cars franchise, beginning with Cars in 2006 and continuing with Cars 2 in 2011 and Cars 3 in 2017. Walt Disney Pictures distributed the films, but Pixar Animation Studios was the animation studio responsible for their production. This distinction is useful because Pixar and Disney are closely connected but are not the same studio.

The franchise is set in a world populated by talking vehicles. Its stories combine automobile culture, racing, friendship, and travel. The films were directed by John Lasseter, John Lasseter and Brad Lewis, and Brian Fee respectively, while Pixar developed the characters, animation, and production design.

Cars also expanded into short films, video games, merchandise, theme-park attractions, and the Disney+ series Cars on the Road. Those related projects remain part of the wider franchise, but the feature-film animation was produced by Pixar rather than DreamWorks, Sony Pictures Animation, or Blue Sky Studios.
