Which studio led development of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III in 2023?

Sledgehammer Games led development of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III in 2023.

The Foster City studio developed the game with Activision publishing it. Modern Warfare III continues the rebooted Modern Warfare storyline and follows Task Force 141 as it hunts Vladimir Makarov.

The project began in a different form. Activision initially assigned Sledgehammer to create an expansion for Modern Warfare II, but that concept became a full standalone sequel. Other studios contributed: Treyarch helped develop the open-world Zombies mode, while Infinity Ward and several support teams assisted elsewhere.

A common mix-up is confusing this game with the original Modern Warfare 3 from 2011, which was co-developed by Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games. The 2023 title is Sledgehammer's fifth mainline Call of Duty development project, following Advanced Warfare, WWII and Vanguard among its solo-led releases.
