Which actor plays Alex Mason in Call of Duty: Black Ops II?

Which actor plays Alex Mason in Call of Duty: Black Ops II? The answer is Sam Worthington.

Sam Worthington provides the voice and performance for Alex Mason in Call of Duty: Black Ops II. Mason is the returning protagonist from the original Black Ops campaign, appearing in the game’s 1980s flashback storyline alongside Frank Woods.

Black Ops II divides its narrative between the 1980s and 2025. Worthington’s Mason is central to the earlier period, while players also control Mason’s son, David, in the futuristic storyline. That generational structure is one of the game’s defining narrative features.

A common mix-up comes from the game’s unusually famous supporting cast. Gary Oldman plays Viktor Reznov in earlier Black Ops material, Michael Keaton voices Jason Hudson in Black Ops II, and Troy Baker voices David Mason. Worthington is best known on screen for films such as Avatar, but in this game his role is primarily a voice and performance-capture contribution rather than a live-action appearance.
