Studio Ghibli’s Spirited Away features Joe Hisaishi’s song “The Name of Life.”
The song is associated with the film’s end credits and is performed in Japanese by Ayaka Hirahara. Hisaishi composed Spirited Away’s score, while Yumi Kimura wrote and performed “Always With Me,” the song heard prominently during the closing sequence and often associated with the film’s music.
That distinction causes a common mix-up: “The Name of Life” and “Always With Me” are different songs connected with Spirited Away. Hisaishi’s orchestral score supports Chihiro’s journey through the spirit world, while the vocal songs provide a more direct emotional reflection on memory, identity, and growing up.
